Each week Dennis Keller is posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies.  He is a lay Dominican from the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina.  He also provides weekly input for our feature Volume II.


 General Intercessions for:

Thirty First Sunday of Ordered Time

November 3 2024

Presider: Our God is the First and the Last, the Creator and Father of all. With confidence in God’s Loving Kindness and Presence, let us express our concerns to the Father.

 

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”

 

1.That the Spirit of God energize and inspire Pope Francis, Bishop _______, clergy and religious to prosper in the work of evangelization and ecumenism, we pray...

 

2. That elected leaders are inspired to seek solutions to armed conflicts, climate change, and the marginalized for their needs for food, education, health care, and peace, we pray...

 

3. That executives of corporations and small businesses compensate their workers with living wages and access to education and health care, we pray....

 

4. That victims of war, street violence, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and neglect have resources to live without domination, fear, and want, we pray...

 

5. That contentions, disagreements, and hate within families will be overcome and replaced with a respectful and positive unity and with respect and kindness among siblings, parents, and extended family, we pray...

 

6. That voting choices this year are made after careful discernment focusing on the common good, truth, and integrity. That all eligible voters fulfill their responsibility to vote, we pray...

 

7. That the abandoned, the forgotten, the physically ill or injured and the mentally ill are provided help from professional healers and accompaniment by their parish community, we pray...

 

8. That those whose life’s work as first responders and military is safety and security and that those whose work is healing mental and physical pain be supported by the Love of the Father, the teaching of the Word, and the inspiration and wisdom of the Spirit, we pray...

 

9. That those who died this past week (list them here being careful to pronounce names correctly and clearly) and those dying this week be welcomed into the heavenly kingdom. That the intention of this Mass, (list here with clear diction) __________ be in our prayers, we pray...

 

10. Let us take a moment to add our personal intentions to these prayers: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with our gifts to the community, we pray...

 

Presider: We come to you Father emboldened by the Word proclaimed and the Creed of our faith. Respond to our needs with your loving kindness and lift us with hope for a better future and a more charitable world. we pray... especially for those in greatest need as you see and love them. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus, our model, and teacher who lives in unity with you and the Spirit now and forever.
