General Intercessions

for the Nineteenth Sunday of Ordered Time

August 10, 2025

Presider: We are instructed this Sunday to be prepared for the coming of the Lord. As we bring our gifts of support, of petition, and of praise to the Lord’s table, let us be mindful of our needs and the crying needs of the world.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, Hear our prayer”

1.Lord, send the Spirit into the work of Pope Leo and Bishop_________ as they discern and address the needs of the faithful, we pray...

2. Father, encourage clergy, religious, and lay leadership to listen to the people of their parish and to address their needs and thanksgivings to strengthen our worshiping community in faith, hope, and charity, we pray...

3. Jesus, enlighten your flock to be mindful of your presence each day in nature, in family, and in our Church Community, we pray...

4. Holy Spirit, enkindle in the hearts of political and social leadership an urgency to seek peace honoring the wonder of all others, we pray...

5. Lord, Jesus lift up the hearts and fortify the skills of first responders, police, firemen, and educators to serve citizens with dignity and care, we pray...

6. Father, spread your cloak of love and safety over those who are in harm’s way because of warfare, domestic violence, abuse, or human trafficking, we pray...

7. Father move our hearts, minds, and hands to apply your directive to care for the widow, the orphan, and the immigrant in our midst, we pray...

8. That those who died this week (list here) and those approaching death’s door are encouraged by faith and sacrament. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _____is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray...

9. Let us offer the Father our personal needs and concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts we offer for the ministries of our community, we pray...

Presider: Father, we offer these petitions to you through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Be kind and move our stubborn hearts to love what you love and avoid what you despise. Send us the Spirit to remove the stiffness of our necks and to bow in homage to your majesty. This we ask through your Son, Jesus.

Response: Amen.
